Client D

Client D contacted us several months after the second of his parents had died. He felt isolated and unsupported in his grief, not only because he had now lost both of the people he had always been able to turn to, but because he felt that his friends could not relate to or understand his experience.

Over the course of several months, Client D had conversations with our end-of-life doulas that explored his complex grief journey, various coping strategies, and even some ideas for legacy projects and rituals that might help him feel more connected to his parents. Validating and normalizing someone's emotions, reactions, and thoughts is just one way to support them in their grief.
