Client B

Client B had a terminal diagnosis and had decided to end her suffering by means of MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying). On the recommendation of the MAiD physician, she contacted us a few months before her chosen death date, unsure of how we could help.

Our doulas had several conversations with Client B and her daughter, both around the complex emotions they were experiencing, but also around how that last day would look. For example, we helped to create a playlist and to arrange the room with photos, candles, and flowers. We also led a ritual for the client and her daughter to help them let go of some toxicity within the family. Finally, we were privileged to be present on the day of Client B’s death, to support her, her family, and friends, and to deal with practical matters, such as contacting the funeral home.
